COMPOSITION EXPLORATION PROJECT
The point of this exercise was to take one low quality photograph and use it to create as many different compositions as possible in Photoshop. I took on this challenge to push myself as a designer to be able to find multiple solutions to when given few materials.
I found this exercise to be extremely helpful for situations when there is little to no source material or content to choose from. I also learned how to introduce new elements and techniques in order to make the same image feel fresh and new with each composition.
When I first began, the only changes that I made the colors in the image and also to the orientation of the image. As I progressed, I treated the flower image as a secondary element to content that I was able to create and introduce into the composition. I introduced other blocks of color with analogous color schemes and created a textured background.
Next, I tried breaking up the flower image to create the illusion of sections. Each section had the same duo-tone color scheme applied to it in increasing intensity to create dimension for the image.
The final iteration of my process was adding text to images, while also continuing to play with analogous and contrasting color schemes. I varied my text in their opacity to experiment with contrast and hierarchy.
